Shuter Library Facebook Champions

 

What we'd like you to do:

 

Ask your friends to donate to Shuter Library through Facebook, once a year, to celebrate YOUR birthday. Facebook makes it very easy to do this:

Go to Fundraisers  on your left FB sidebar

Select “Raise Money for a Nonprofit” → Select Nonprofit

Type in Shuter Library

In the Left Sidebar, indicate what you want to raise. We suggest $750.

Let the fundraiser run either through your birthday or for 10 days.

Facebook's title for the fundraiser is just fine, but you can edit it.

Enter why you want to raise $ for the library. We have a couple of suggestions, but make it yours:

Script 1:  For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Shuter Library of Angel Fire, New Mexico. As you all know I absolutely LOVE libraries but I especially love my little library in Angel Fire. They are coming off a hard 14 months where they weren't able to hold our normal fundraisers due to COVID . Every little bit that you donate will help me reach my goal. 100% of what you give reaches the library. I've included information about Shuter Library of Angel Fire below.

Community Service Library, a 501(c)3  – books, audio disk books, ebooks, book clubs, children's programs, print / copy / PC usage and so much more.

 

Script 2: I'm using my time in the “birthday” spotlight to ask for donations to the Shuter Library of Angel Fire, New Mexico. They are a full service library in a rural community, and they raise 100% of their expenses through grants, bonds, and fundraising activities. It's hard work, and I'd like to help them. 100% of what you give reaches the library. Every little bit that you donate will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Shuter Library of Angel Fire below.

Followup during the Campaign: 

Facebook will prompt you, or you can set a calendar reminder for yourself. Repost your Campaign with a personalized message.  We have a couple of suggestions, but again, make it yours:

 

Followup 1:  I have been amazed by how many of my friends have already donated to my birthday fundraiser for The Shuter Library of Angel Fire! Please consider donating whatever you are able to, for this cash strapped library hit by the COVID lockdown. EVERY single dollar helps them buy books, hold programs, keep the doors open, pay staff members, and so much more. Thank you in advance for you donations and support!

 

Followup 2: You all have been so very generous the last few days and I’ve already reached my goal of $750! My birthday isn’t until the XXth so I raised the goal to $1500. We’ll see if we can surpass that!

 

Followup After Your Campaign: We appreciate you very much championing Shuter Library Year after Year. YOUR donors will love you more and remember you next year if you follow up with them. We ask you to:

 

1. Follow up on Facebook and thank the people that followed you in supporting the Library. Click on their names in the Campaign, in the list of people who gave. A quick sentence or two is great, something like “I really appreciate you donating to the Shuter Library. If you've never seen it, stop in for a visit. If you have been in before, drop by to check out new things and to say hello.

2. If you can, please send a thankyou note to each person in your address book with a mailing address. If you call or email us, we will mail you postcards with the library on the front. On the back left side, you would write a thanks, and on the right side we suggest you write a great quote about books, and we can provide you with the list. We'll stamp the envelope – you just drop the postcard in, and add the mailing and return address. People love this extra outreach.

 

How WE follow up all your work:

We recognize our Champions:

1. For all campaigns, we'll give you a bag of books. Either we can choose them for you, or you can drop by and choose your won.

2. For campaigns that deliver $100-500 we'll mail you a customized Shuter pandemic mask. It's great graphics, and it shows off your connection to the library.

3. For campaigns that deliver $500-1000 we'll mail you a Shuter etched wine glass to show off your street cred during happy hour.

4. For campaigns that deliver more than $1000 we'll mail you a Shuter tote bag.

5. We also have a page on our website where we will recognize you and how many campaigns you have participated in, and that lists the three big fundraisers for each year. 

6. Additionally on our home page, we have a corner where we recognize the biggest fundraiser of the month. You can be out there in the public's eye, as a Library Supporter and Champion.
